MORTGAGE 101
Where Do I Start?
Welcome to Mortgage 101. We help home buyers and realtors understand home loans. You’re in the right place if you’re thinking of buying your first home, if you’re moving to your next home, or if you’re ready to refinance your existing loan.
Where Do I Start Getting A Mortgage?
There are so many opinions out there telling home buyers where to start their home search. Friends, family, your CPA, financial advisor and sometimes even your realtor can have a different opinion.
A smart lender will tell you to figure out the finances first. Why? We have heard too many stories where a home buyer gets their heart broken after finding a house they have fallen in love with, only to learn that they can’t afford it.
Step 1
Set up a Discovery Call to give your lender an idea of your goals, timeline and desired monthly payment. Your lender will set you up with the steps you need to take to make sure you are successful in your house hunting.
Because you talked to your lender before you start your house hunting, you’ll know exactly what to tell your realtor when they ask you what sort of house you’re looking for. This will save a lot of time for both of you.
You’ll know what price range you’re going to be approved for, and that the monthly payment is going to be comfortable for your family. Keeping your house hunting within your lender’s suggested parameters will help you reach your financial goals.
Discovery Call
A Discover Call is that first call you make to your lender. You’ll talk about your financial goals and your timeline for moving.
During this call the lender will also get an idea of your assets and income. They’ll ask about your downpayment plan and find out what monthly payment you’re comfortable paying.
